The Royal Piccadilly | Birthday Cakes | Paris

It has been a crazy September at our studio these past couple of weeks, and I haven’t had the chance to post anything anywhere from Facebook to here despite the exciting cakes we’ve been doing, and people we’ve been collaborating with! But just to update everyone of the cakes we’ve been doing, here’s one that we were really excited to do with Dreamscapes‘ Jac Lee Hao. This absolutely adorable events stylist wanted a Parisian-inspired cake for her baby girl, Ria, who was turning 1. Having worked with us before, we were fortunate enough to be tapped to do her baby’s cake!

Like all of her other parties, here’s another beautiful, Ladureé-inspired set-up at Enderun 😀

She had other booths set-up outside the hall too! It was nothing short of a well-equipped lounging area, but for little girls, from a glitter tattoo station, to a lounging table decorated with polka dotted teapots and crocheted cake slices.

But among all the pretty stations, my favourite set-up was the park bench that welcomes the guest as they entered through the front doors. It reminded me of the Regent’s Park in London ❤ (yes, I just had to have my photo taken there! Hehe)

The Royal Piccadilly | Cake Set | Three Little Kittens and a baby called Audrey <3

We may be cake decorators, but rarely do we get to decorate for ourselves except for extremely important celebration like my new niece’s 1st monthsary! Inspired by her green kitten mittens, and the fact that her dad’s name is Kit, it only made sense to do a 3 Little Kittens themed mini cake set!

But I had to be realistic- I am a working aunt, and despite wanting to go home early, I had work to finish and a restaurant to manage. So I came home to a cranky (but still very cute) little babby! (At least she was still awake.)

But it’s all good. She’s still so adorable! So now, it’s back to the drawing board for month 2!

Happy 1st monthsary, little Audrey jellybean! ❤

The Royal Piccadilly | Menu | Meat Pies

Now, we’ve got MEAT PIES! And they’re exactly how meat pies should be like! 😀Image

A couple (well, many…….. many…..) of years ago, my family and I lived in Australia, and I distinctly remember devouring Four’N Twenty meat pies on a regular basis. Contrary to how pies are normally eaten, we, being the rice-eating Pinoys that we were, would enjoy all that steaming hot gravy, and all that lean meat, with every spoonful of fluffy white rice and ketchup!

Sure, rice MAY BE a bit outrageous for some people, so we decided to serve it with really creamy mashed potatoes instead!  And to make it extra special, we puffed our pastry, exactly how meat pies should be like!

Our meat pies are readily available at our store, on the 2nd floor of Petron La Vista (entrance), Katipunan Ave., Quezon City! Flavours are:

Beef & Gravy

Steak & Cheese

Creamy Chicken

and Beef & Tomato

Best served with mash, or if you’re feeling adventurous, go ahead and eat it with rice and ketchup! 😀

Much love,

BREAKFAST CLUB - French Toast-1081

Hello! It’s almost mid-August, which means I’ve been in Medical School approximately two months. The other day a friend visited the restaurant (which is in Petron Katipunan, next to the La Vista gate, and we are open from 10AM to 10PM, ok plug is over), and saw me studying my Anatomy book, and said to me: “You’re in med??”

The surprise was completely understandable, but funny, as despite my being in school full time for more than two months, it has not completely disregarded my identity/cakexistence. (Not a surprise really considering the ratio of med to cupcake posts is like 1:10)

I don’t get to cake as often now, but I’m pretty happy how much of TRP I brought with me to Sta. Mesa. (I’ve also moved there during the weekdays, and keep my own little quaint place, which really really looks like it could be a part of The Royal Piccadilly)

As much as I am enjoying medschool, I miss the mess of the kitchen, so recently I invited some friends over and I cooked french toast for breakfast. (Breakfast can be liked to a rare pokemon in medschool) It’s different cooking in your own kitchen. I had to clean up as I cooked, multi-tasked preparing for school, in the middle of toast-flippage. The smell of maple syrup clung to every piece of my room (even my hair), but it was really worth waking up early for. I know I won’t be able to cook a lot (nor blog) as school demands 110% of me (and the restaurant demands another 90%—I am obviously bad at math), but I know I’ll be trying my best to make time for it, because the kitchen really is a great place to be me.

Baby Cake | London in Pinks, Blues, and Yellows

It’s not a secret that our company is London-inspired. And I can’t hide how much I miss just walking around, being in a beautiful city, and sitting down in the park to enjoy a bit of sun (during the rare occasions it finally decides to come out). My last days in London were quite sentimental.

Big Ben at Sunset

Putney Bridge in the morning

I was alone most of the time, so I spent it just walking close to my flat (which was conveniently a 15-minute walk to the Tower Bridge and all those cheesy London landmarks).

Tower Bridge, London 2012

Tower Bridge as I left it.

Two days before my flight home, it was almost autumn, but the sun was still fighting the bit of cold that was already creeping into the city. I sat down on a bench in front of the Tower of London, facing Tower Bridge and the Thames River and just looked at the city I knew I was going to leave my heart in until I could get it back. Until then, I’m going to have to make more (much more) cakes. (So please order more cakes! Haha)

For the meantime, here’s a hot air balloon cake, with the popular London skyline (minus the Shard because it’s hazardous to train drivers hehe).

Cheers and much love,

Lora

Wedding Cake | Maita + Miguel

It seems that recently, my Facebook feed inevitably gets flooded by save-the-date videos and epic wedding photos. Out of the bajilion acquaintances I have on Facebook who boast of their extremely sublime wedding photos, only a couple are good ol’ friends that could really get my tear ducts to over flow.

Maita, a good friend from high school, got married to a man who completely swept her off her feet.  Last night during their wedding, I watched her look at Miguel with such love and excitement, and it got me all nostalgic about conversations that we’d have when she’d fly home once in a while from Hong Kong. You see, our friendship isn’t your usual ‘I-need-a-shoulder-to-cry-on’ kind, it was more of ‘I’m-dealing-with-life-now-but-I’ll-tell-you-about-it-when-we-finally-see-each-other’ kind. So when we did finally get to catch up (like, once in 2 years at most). Sometimes, she’d be completely broken and sometimes, she’d be so driven about work. But last night, she was back to the old Maita I grew up with- the happy, giddy, excited Maita I’ve always known she could be, because alas, love has triumphed in her life.

It so  surreal, that it was just like yesterday that we were 15 talking about ‘jaws’ (if you know what I mean!!!!) and other things that smitten, 15 year olds gush about, and here we are now, her getting married and me, making her wedding cake!

So, Maita and Miguel, congratulations to the both of you, and I hope you enjoyed the cake 😀

Much much much love,

Lora

Birthday Cake Set | Gaudí and Barcelona

image

For the first time ever, someone unusually requested for a Gaudí themed cake.(Antoni Gaudí is a famous Spanish architect who’s works are main attractions in Barcelona.) When we received this order, there was definitely a mix of feelings. We were a bit challenged, happy with the familiarity, but also a bit sad about the thought of Europe. You see, around this time last year, I had already arrived in London to visit my sisters, who were on a school break, to go traipse around countries and cities in Europe, Barcelona was one of them.

On our plane to Spain, we hadn’t known what to expect. From our four years of Spanish teachers telling us different things of the country, I had expected a much less beautiful city. I was glad about the lack of hype and expectation, because wow, Barcelona is beautiful. We stayed along La Rambla, in a surprisingly cheap, but really nice hotel (with disco lights in their shower), which was walking distance from Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, which in itself was beautiful—and delicious. (I talk about Mercat de Sant Josep at my personal blog, here, lots of photos too)

The first thing I saw getting out of the metro was Casa Batlló, and though before that moment, I could have never fathom how a building could be beautiful, I could definitely tell that Casa Batlló was a stunner. It was nothing like I’ve ever seen before. In London all the buildings were serious (even the Gerkin) and here this building was, covered in masks , color and dragon scales.

But of course, we were on a tight budget, and we had a couple more cities left to visit, so we decided not to go in Casa Batlló for now, we did however step into Park Güell, and it was biiiig and fun to explore. It was peculiar, and fascinating how the world could appreciate so much weirdness and irregularity. We’re all not just squares after all.

We passed by Sagrada too. It’s this huge church, strange looking with gargoyles and lizards coming off of the towers. We didn’t go in either, and it started to rain so we hurried to the KFC across it, and admired it from afar with our fastfood chicken (THEY HAVE NO GRAVY IN SPAIN).

It’s been a year, and my memory may be a bit fuzzy about our trip abroad, but one thing I don’t think I would forget is how good the pintxos were! We want to thank our friend Shivar for showing us around and feeding us! haha

image image image image

I hope we get asked to make a French inspired cake next, so we could talk about France next—or I hope it worked in a way that we could go somewhere to research for a cake. That would be so awesome.

(But next time I’ll make sure they take photos of me too hmph)

Lisane

Baby Cake | The Kitty with a Big Red Bow

Among all my childhood memories that are worth recalling in sepia, one remains perpetual in her white fur, and chubby, red ribbon. Growing up, our mom always gravitated towards cute things, so it would totally make sense that every new school year, we’d be carrying around spanking new Sanrio lunch boxes.  But since there were two of us (when the world was still without Lisane), and because of my endearing reputation as a little rowdy kid, the quiet nature of Hello Kitty never fit my personality.

So I always got the Kerokerokeropi lunch boxes -_-

I don’t know exactly why I got stuck with the frog. Sometimes I jokingly accuse my mom and sister for stereotyping me through my formative years. But they always told me I always chose Keropi. I guess, I’ve always been trying to go against the grain, with all the pink and prettiness that all the other girls liked. But anyhoohoo, fast forward a couple of years, the true girl in me has resurfaced and has finally admitted that  Hello Kitty is the cutest cat in the world! But instead of going crazy on lunch boxes and all those cute toys available, well, we just made a cake set!

So, to all the young children and the young at heart who are growing up, and grew up with Hello Kitty, I really hope you like this!

Much love,

Lora

Debut Cake Set | Peony + Inital Medallions

image

I guess looking through TRP photos made me realize how much our geek-selves we share with all of you, but show so little of how girly and feminine we also are. As three sisters, it’s kind of difficult not to be, well—-girly. We cover all the necessary stereotypes, such as retail therapy, make up, and gushing over how good looking Adam Levine is, and though we were never the debutant kind of girls, this cake made we wish we were!

We love the pink and black together, french-inspired, sweet, but almost-grown up, and the peony and the monogram medallions just tie it all together elegantly.
